Growth Strategy

You know that promotional products can be very valuable to any business. However, selling promotional products as a valuable part of the marketing mix to customers can be challenging. Figuring out new ways to boost sales with creative products and unique decorating options can help you become more profitable.

There are a variety of techniques and ways to decorate and personalize apparel such as screen printing, embroidery and direct-to-garment printing. This week, Promotional Consultant Today is introducing you to a technique you may not be as familiar with - heat printing. Monday we looked at decorating headwear and Tuesday nylon bags. Yesterday we discussed apparel and how to cash in on the market. And today, we'll review techniques for add-on sales and hard to decorate items.

Add-on Sales

One of the easiest ways to increase sales is by selling more to your current or regular customers. Since you already have their business, look at their order history and figure out what types of products and services might be most beneficial. If you take the time to create a customized sales plan, your customers are sure to notice and more likely to buy from you.

Seasonal items or specials offer the perfect opportunity to upsell - just think about what your customer is buying. For example, if a customer is purchasing t-shirts for a corporate picnic, consider showing other products that can be used at an outdoor event such as lawn chairs, caps or koozies.

Digital heat transfers are ideal for creating samples for add-on sales. Digital transfers do not charge per color fees and in most cases there are no quantity minimums. Decorating one or two items costs no more than decorating 100 items per piece.

Digital transfers are also great for oversize items, they come in a variety of sizes which makes decorating easier, and feature permanent adhesions once applied. This exciting technology can help bring your customer's logo to life.

Focus on ways to increase your sales within your existing market. Remember it costs more to acquire new customers than it does to keep existingones.
